Part one evaluation introduction

According to the brief we were given we had been hired to producea music video, digipak and a magazine ad which promoted the digipak.As clearly stated in the brief "You have been hired by PL records to mamage the promotion of one of their new acts." We were given a website called creative commons as help where we could find copyright free music which we could use for our magazine ad. I found a song called 'Changing people' by Shauntia Touissant. In order to use and licesence this song I had to pay £1 which went to the artist. I was given a confirmation email which stated that I was allowed to the use the song.The music genre fot this artist was jazz mixed with soul. These genres are very similar. The reason why I was attracted to this artist was becasue she reminded me of Alicia Keys who is known for being a succcessful soul artist. Also the song itself was nice to listen too. It was a chilled out song not too fast or not too slow. I did research on the artist too see if I could find more information on her. However, I could not find much out about her. She was a niche artist which is the reason I wanted to use her and her song. As because she is niche it is easier to represent and mould her into what sort of artist you want. We went for a Alicia Keys sort of look for our artist. Classy but sexy. The artist was somoene new and not heard of.
